SOMETHING ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Federico!

I am a  documentary photographer currently based in Asia, specialising in travel, culture and portraiture.

I was born in Italy, and I spent most of my childhood traveling around Europe, cultivating an adventurous spirit from an early age.

Following the beaten path I gradually realised that a sedentary life wasn't for me. I yearned for discovery, nomadism and unexpected twists. My curiosity for distant lands and timeless stories led me to explore several countries in the world, discovering a deep love for the Eastern culture.

In 2022, just after turning 30, I embarked on a long solo journey wandering through South and Southeast Asia, always carrying a camera with me to document the ancient traditions of those distinctive cultures.

Travelling around the planet made me understand that our diversity is a gift to be preserved and celebrated as something to be proud of, a value that makes every story unique. Stories that I had the privilege to document, over the years, through meaningful and inspirational images.

My camera became a bridge through which I could discover and interact with unknown and hidden worlds. A universal language to explore the human dimension in its most deep form.

I believe that, somehow, photography saved me from a life that would never have belonged to me and in which I would never have mirrored myself.

The aim of my work is to tell a story as it really is, not as we would like it to be, thus breaking any unreal connection with appearance and instead encouraging a genuine relationship with our own truth, without any filters.

Whether documenting rural lifestyle in remote villages or shooting intimate portraits on a tropical pristine beach, the intention of my art is to capture the soul of each individual, showing the authentic essence of people in the rawest and purest way possible, emphasizing simple lines, natural lights and minimalist shapes.

“I’m the result of all the experiences I have lived and I constantly grow in an eternal journey of discovery through understanding others. The more I connect with the people I meet, the more I know myself.”

A heart-centred approach
to understand our diversity.

Over the past few years, by traveling extensively and full-time, I have had the opportunity to spend time with different indigenous communities from various parts of the world who lived a life which has nothing to do with what I knew.

Those tribes still maintained a deep connection with the natural world, respecting it and being grateful for what they received back, in a synergistic relationship that allowed humans and nature to co-exist harmoniously.

What helped me most to learn about habits and customs handed down over the centuries by the people was the possibility of integrating into their villages.

I had the honour of being welcomed as guest and becoming part of their daily life, connecting with the most intimate part of them and understanding feelings and emotions that otherwise would have remained hidden.

Observing, listening and questioning were just some of the ways I constantly used to understand their ancient cultures and precious traditions, rituals, beliefs and behaviours so different than mine.

Through photography, I was able to get closer to their world, documenting and preserving a cultural heritage as unique as well as fascinating.

Indigenous people not only taught me values that have been lost in our “developed” society, but they even helped me to be a better human being and understand my place on this Earth.

With their unique way of spreading their culture maintaining their own integrity intact over time, they sparked hope within me, giving me the strength to continue in my mission of celebrating beauty across our fascinating planet.

They remind me every day of the importance of connecting with my subjects on a deeper level, listening and respecting the vulnerability they carry with them.

Their teachings are still alive within me and have played a fundamental role in the evolution of my artistic vision.
